Recently I was asked to write a small blurb on Redfinabout crystals to have in your home. (You can check it out, The Best Crystals to Have for Every Room in Your Home, According to the Pros.)
“The best crystal for your living room space would be a beautiful piece of rose quartz. The living room space is where you entertain and have close family and friends, and rose quartz is a stone that exudes calming, loving, and positive energies for those close to it. I would even go as far as pairing it with a piece of clear quartz to amplify those loving energies.”- Michelle Melo, Remember Love Healing
Now, this is not a question that is commonly asked but one that is absolutely important. Your home is your own sacred space. It is an environment that we create to help us relax, a space where we feel grounded and ultimately, a space to feel others welcomed.
To elaborate on my post for Redfin here are my top 5 picks for crystals for your home (and their suggested spots):
Crystals to Have in Your Home:
- Rose Quartz
- Selenite (Satin Spar)
- Blue Calcite
- Golden Sheen Obsidian
- Pyrite
Rose Quartz
A few months ago, my cousin, Kim called me and said she found a chunk of rose quartz near the entrance of her front door. She had just recently bought the home so digging around her front yard was not a thing she was actively doing. She discovered a small piece sticking out and after further investigation pulled a massive piece of rose quartz. Now, Rose Quartz is not native to Florida so this was certainly put in by another crystal believer.
After much discussion, I asked her what she feels she should do with it. Kim felt that it needed a good cleansed and be placed back at the entrance (don’t you love intuition). Yes! Rose Quartz at your entrance.
Placing Rose Quartz at your entrance gives the invitation that “love lives here”. It sets the intentions of loving energy and opens you (and potential guests) for the opportunity to connect, leaving fear and BS at the door.
If you feel called to place another piece of Rose Quartz at the center of your living room or the space where everyone communes in your home, it’s a wonderful idea. Your bedroom should also have its own piece as it also helps with stress, anxiety, and insomnia.
Satin Spar (but commonly referred to as Selenite)
A good cleansing stone. Selenite is fairly inexpensive and large pieces are often found, even at places such as HomeGoods. I found a very large spiral selenite at a yard sale while living in Quito for $5. Apparently, they considered it a souvenir as part of their travels and no longer wanted it (win for me).
This is a stone that I have front and center over my fireplace in my living room. Since this is an area that is often used by my family and where I invite my guests to sit and connect, it’s always a great idea to have a cleansing stone or crystal in your home, that is refreshing the energy.
Of course, smudging or smoke cleansing often is recommended, it’s nice to have a stone that can do it for you in between sessions.
Blue Calcite
Blue Calcite is a soothing stone. It helps relax those who are generally anxious. It creates a warm environment rooted in honesty (throat chakra) and allows one to sink into their safe space without the worries of the outside world.
It also brings in a sense of comfort of relief when we tend to focus on the doom and gloom side of things. This is especially helpful for folks who work in high-stress environments like medical personnel, 911 operators, etc.
Golden Sheen Obsidian
This is one that you can place near where you hang out the most. This can be next to your favorite spot on the couch, near your workspace, or even next to your bed if it’s where you enjoy vegging out.
Golden Sheen Obsidian is not only a grounding stone but a protective stone. Golden Sheen Obsidian is wonderful for clearing negative energies from your space. It also helps create a balance between those with larger egos (think, people who overtake the conversation) and brings back the ability to have a regular back and forth conversation.
Talking about protective energies, unlike Selenite/Satin Spar that works by keeping the energy fresh, Golden Sheen offers more active protective energy for those around it. It creates almost a shield around those around it to protect them from low, stagnant, or negative energies.
Bonus Stone: Pyrite
As so many of us have been working from home or have even started our own businesses or side gigs at home, we need a little more luck or an influx of financial abundance to make sure our businesses are here for a long time. This tip came from a local crystal seller at El Mercado De La Mariscal in Quito; he suggests that you keep pyrite next to your workspace or even in your wallet. Pyrite’s energy is to call forth “gold and money”. When you have pyrite nearby you are opening up energies to receiving financial abundance and attracting your ideal customers and clients.
